Andreas Strobel

Andreas Strobel (born May 13, 1972 in Selb ) is a German ski mountaineer and cyclist . He is a member of the German national ski mountaineering team and was German champion in the vertical race in 2008 .

Ski mountaineering

After finishing 4th in the German Ski Mountaineering Championship in 2006 , he managed to achieve 2nd place in the Vertical Race at the German Ski Mountaineering Championship one year later. In 2007 he took second place in the Dammkarwurm . In 2008 he became German champion in the vertical race, took 3rd place in both the individual and team at the German Ski Mountaineering Championship and was 6th in the men's relay with Toni Steurer , Stefan Klinger and Konrad Lex at the World Ski Mountaineering Relay . In 2009 he was unable to defend his championship title in the vertical race and achieved second place in the German championship on the Hochgrat.

Mountain biking

He started cycling in 1991, originally for fitness training for expedition mountaineering in South America. After he took part in the “Ronda Extrema” at the Lake Garda MTB marathon in 1997 and took one of the lowest places, he began to train more specifically for this sport.

His greatest successes include first places in mountain biking at the Transrockies race in 2003, at the Transcreta in 2005 and at the Bavarian Championships in 2004 and 2006 and in 2004 in the MV Marathon series. At the “Cape Epic” race he took second place in 2004, at the Bike Transalp 2003 as well as at the German championship in the mountain bike marathon 2004, the victory at the Ritchey MTB Challenge 2006. In 2007 he won the Giro Dominicana . In the Vaude Trans-Black Forest he was second from 2008 to 2010. He finished the Transalp in 2008 and 2009 in third and fourth place. He won the Ritchey series from 2007 to 2012 without interruption.
