German national ski mountaineering team
The German national ski mountaineering team (German Skimountaineering Team) is a selection made by the German Alpine Association (DAV) of ski mountaineers who have qualified in competitions organized by the DAV or the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC).
The DAV has been a member of the ISMC since autumn 2001 and is thus the official German association for the sport of ski mountaineering. In the 2001/2002 season, the DAV created a national ski mountaineering team. At the 1st World Ski Mountaineering Championship in 2002 , the German team achieved 6th place in the overall ranking of nations in terms of medals and points, at the 2nd World Ski Mountaineering Championship in 2004, 7th place and at the World Ski Mountaineering Championship in 2006, fifth place. At the 4th World Ski Mountaineering Championships in 2008 , the team came in 6th.
Team boss of the national team was first Stefan Winter , now Mathias Keller is trainer and coordinator.
Competitions
Before membership, the "DIAMIR-Race" in Dammkar near Mittenwald was the "unofficial" German ski mountaineering championship.
Members of the national team must have a German passport or a permanent residence in Germany and take part in the ISMC competitions in individual and group disciplines in the respective season. The most promising athletes are nominated for the world or European championships . In 2006, three women and six men of the national team took part in the 12th Patrouille des Glaciers for the first time.
The DAV ski mountaineering competitions are carried out according to the international regulations of the ISMC.
On February 4, 2018, Susi von Borstel became German ski mountaineering champion and was able to successfully defend her title from the previous year.
