Andreas Raido Karuks Vaikla (born February 19, 1997 in Toronto ) is an Estonian - Canadian soccer goalkeeper who is under contract with IFK Norrköping in Sweden .

Career

Andreas Vaikla was born in 1997 in Toronto, Canada. He began his career with the clubs Spartacus Soccer, Wexford Wolves and North Scarborou SC. After a game with the Estonia U-16 team in Ireland, a scout from England's West Bromwich Albion noticed him. A year later he moved to the Youth Academy of the club from Birmingham . He was under contract in England for two years before moving to IFK Norrköping in Sweden . The then 18-year-old goalkeeper signed a contract there until the end of the 2016 season. In the 2015 championship season , Vaikla was in the club's squad eleven times, but remained unused. He made his professional debut on February 20, 2016, one day after his nineteenth birthday, in the group stage of the Swedish Cup against Östersunds FK .

For a short time Vaikla was the regular goalkeeper at IFK Norrköping at the beginning of the 2016 season , but was ousted from the goal by the newly signed Austrian Michael Langer in the summer of that year . In January 2017 he left the club and joined the IFK Mariehamn in the Veikkausliiga .

National team

The native Canadian plays as the son of an Estonian family for the national team of the Baltic States . Vaikla made his debut in the U-16 team against Ireland in 2012 . A year later he played once in the U-17 against Kazakhstan . After a year without any effort for the youth national teams of Estonia, he stood between the posts ten times in the Estonian U-19s in 2015 . Another year later Vaikla made his U-21 debut against Croatia . In the senior national team , 19-year-old Vaikla made his debut against Andorra under national coach Magnus Pehrsson in June 2016 . With the national team he took part in the Baltic Cup 2016 .
