Andreas Würfel

Andreas Würfel (born February 28, 1718 in Nuremberg ; † October 6, 1769 in Offenhausen (Middle Franconia) ) was a German clergyman , genealogist and art historian .

Life

Andreas was born as the son of the principal of the Nuremberg Lorenzer School Leonhard Konrad Würfel and his wife Maria Andrä. He attended the Aegidianum and the Lorenz School in his hometown . From 1739 Würfel studied theology , philosophy , philology , mathematics and rhetoric at the University of Altdorf . In 1744 he completed his vicariate at St. Klara in Nuremberg. In 1751 he was ordained in Altdorf, then he worked as a deacon in Kirchensittenbach and as a pastor in Oberkrumbach . From 1755 until his death he worked as a pastor in Offenhausen.

From 1758 Würfel was an honorary member of the Altdorfische Deutschen Gesellschaft , from 1762 a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences , and Würfelstrasse in Nuremberg is named after him.

Würfel had married Katharina Margaretha Ringer (born March 24, 1799 in Nuremberg), a pastor's daughter from Helfenberg (Würtemberg). From the marriage comes a son Christoph Würfel (* March 8, 1755 in Kirchensittenbach; † July 21, 1824 in Großhaslach), who was also pastor in Alfeld and Großhaslach. As well as a daughter.
