Life

Since coming out in 1988, Andreas Weiß has been responsible for numerous productions as a producer, author and director, in which homosexual topics always had a special presence. One of his best-known productions is the 1995 drama series Montagskinder . These and other of his series were broadcast by open channels and shown as video performances in local cinemas and associations. In his productions, Weiß presents gay and lesbian ways of life as a matter of course, provocatively and in concentrated form. While his earlier productions were characterized by the use of mostly amateur actors and simple video technology (S-VHS), since 2002 he has mainly been working with professional actors and shooting on digital video.

Weiß has worked with various artists from the Berlin homosexual cabaret scene such as Biggy van Blond , Donato Plögert , Tima die Götliche and Ovo Maltine . Because of his work as a director and producer, he is mentioned in the lexicon of the German soap operas by Jovan Evermann , the still photographer of three of his productions.

Andreas Weiß has lived and worked in Berlin since 1990, in the Prenzlauer Berg district since 1992 .

On January 2, 2009, Andreas Weiß established the non-profit foundation SCHWULFERNSEHEN and transferred all of his cinematographic works as well as the rights of use to this foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to maintain and preserve these works and to make them accessible to the public.
