Andreas Wendt (born February 22, 1952 in Leipzig ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

In his youth, Wendt played for BSG Motor Leipzig West from 1960 to 1967 and from 1967 to 1971 at the age of 19 for BSG Motor Lindenau. He then went to ASG Vorwärts Leipzig as part of his military service , where he stayed until 1974 and with whom he also played for promotion to the top division. Then Wendt was obliged by BSG Energie Cottbus, which played in the second-rate GDR league. In his first season 1974/75 he completed 17 games and was also in all eight games of the promotion round in goal, which he secured Cottbus promotion. In the league season 1975/76 Wendt was in 25 of 26 league games in the goal of Cottbus. He made his debut on August 23, 1975 when he guarded the goal on the 1st match day in a 1-1 draw against BSG Sachsenring Zwickau . Energie could not prevent the direct relegation with a total of 63 goals. In the following four seasons until 1980, Wendt was still the goalkeeper. In 1980/81 he only came to two missions. In the following league season he again completed 24 of 26 games. After the following relegation, he came only three times in the first team to train. Then Wendt moved to TSG Saspow in 1983, where he ended his career the following year.
