Andreas Wimmer (born August 21, 1981 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian entrepreneur who has been Federal Chairman of the Young Industry since 2017 .

education

After attending lower secondary school, Andreas Wimmer completed his training as a mechanical engineer at the HTBLuVA Salzburg in 2000 . From 2001 to 2004, he completed a certificate course in management at McGill University . In the years 2005 to 2007 he completed a master’s course in training and development at the Salzburg Business School of the University of Salzburg and from 2015 to 2017 an apprenticeship as a tunneling engineer with a focus on the New Austrian Tunneling Method ( NATM ) at the Montanuniversität Leoben and the Technical University of Graz .

Entrepreneurial activity

After completing his training in mechanical engineering, Wimmer joined the family company Wimmer International, founded in 1984 by Wimmer's father, and from January 2001 took over the management of the Canadian subsidiary Wimmer Canada Inc. From 2004, Wimmer was responsible for the sales management of the entire company. Wimmer has been the managing director and partner of the group of companies since 2010. In 2016, as part of the Game-Changer # 1 campaign, Wimmer was portrayed as one of 19 Salzburg entrepreneurs who set standards with their innovations, products and services .

In 2006, Wimmer International was named the best family company in the State of Salzburg and is primarily concerned with the development and production of high-quality accessories for hydraulic excavators. The company's headquarters are in Thalgau near Salzburg, where the headquarters of the two main companies, Wimmer Hartstahl and Wimmer Felstechnik, are also located and employ around 80 people. A total of around 100 people are employed. The subsidiary Wimmer International CZ is located in Budweis, where parts of the production are located. Wimmer North America was founded in 2017 .

Representation of interests

Already in his school days, Wimmer was involved as a representative in the student council. He was school spokesman, deputy state school spokesman and state manager of the Salzburg student union .

From 2007 Andreas Wimmer was a board member of the Junge Industrie Salzburg, between 2011 and 2015 he held the position of state chairman. In the years 2011-2017 Wimmer was also a board member of the Chamber of Commerce belonging Junior Chamber Salzburg. From 2015 to 2017 Wimmer acted as Deputy Federal Chairman of the Young Industry.

In 2017, Andreas Wimmer took over the position of Federal Chairman of the Young Industry from Therese Niss and, due to this function, is also a member of the Federal Board of the Federation of Industrialists . Since 2011, Wimmer has also been a board member of the Salzburg Federation of Industry.

Wimmer has appeared in the media - in addition to reports on his assumption of office - so far mainly on industry topics, for example in the area of ​​labor and collective agreements as well as free trade. He was also present on socio-political issues such as taxes, education, start-ups and pensions, as well as calling for election times to be merged. The federal conference held in Salzburg in 2017, at which he took over the office of federal chairman, put Wimmer under the title Master vs. Master .

In December 2017, Wimmer was critical of the new Austrian government program.

Private

Wimmer has two children with his partner and lives near Salzburg.
