Andreas Wolfsgruber

Andreas Wolfsgruber (* 1962 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian automobile designer and has headed the Magna Steyr design department since 2000 . The focus of his work is on design concepts for new forms of mobility and series design, especially for Asian customers.

biography

After studying at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz, specializing in industrial design from 1980 to 1985, Wolfsgruber worked as a commercial vehicle designer at Steyr-Daimler-Puch Fahrzeugtechnik AG Co. KG in Graz from 1986 . In 1990 he established the introduction of new, digital design methods into the design process. In terms of technical product design, he has a collaboration with BMW . In 1995 he began teaching at the Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in the "Industrial Management" course in Kapfenberg (until 1998) and in the "Industrial Design" course in Graz (until 2004). In 2000, Wolfsgruber began building an international design department at Magna Steyr. In 2003, he supported the promotion of talented designers in training with the “Magna Steyr Moving Emotions Award”. Cooperation projects with the design schools Strate College Paris (FR), Pforzheim (D), Halle (D), Coventry (GB)) followed. In 2005 he initiated the design concept family "MILA" (Magna Innovative Lightweight Auto) with the presentation of the first MAGNA STEYR DESIGN show car at the international automobile exhibition IAA in Frankfurt - with international attention. Seven different design concepts followed by 2014.

He pushed the development of an international design team at the locations in Munich, Paris, Turin and Shanghai as well as customer projects in the Asian region. His current focus is on concept vehicles as well as automobile and commercial vehicle series design. Wolfsgruber gave design lectures in Stockholm, Turin and New Delhi.

Projects

In addition to numerous projects with international partners such as Fiat , VW , Opel , Mercedes , Kia and BMW , Andreas Wolfsgruber was responsible for the exterior and interior design of the heavy-duty truck cab for STEYR trucks. Other projects included the new 9000 tractor generation for STEYR Landmaschinentechnik, the initiation and development of the MILA Design Concept Family (2004–2014) and the “IDEAS. Ready for Road “exhibition of the designforum Steiermark in the Kunsthaus Graz (2013).
