The Andreassen Point is a flat and ice-free headland in the north of the Antarctic James Ross Island , which protrudes 13 km south of Cape Lachman into the Herbert Sound .
Probable discoverer of the cape is Otto Nordenskjöld , head of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903). The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a survey in 1945. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the object after Frantz Leonard Andreassen (1858–1920), first mate on the Bark Antarctic , the ship of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition.
