Andrei Alexandrowitsch Makowejew ( Russian : Андрей Александрович Маковеев, born October 16, 1982 in Tobolsk , Tyumen Oblast ) is a former Russian biathlete .

Andrei Makowejew began his international career at the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Ridanna . The best place was a fifth place with the relay. Things went better at the European Championships in Kontiolahti that same year . Here he won gold in the sprint and with the relay, to which Maxim Tschudow also belonged, ahead of Michael Rösch . In the European championships a year later in Forni Avoltri , a bronze medal was added in the relay.

Makowejew has been competing in the European Cup since 2005. After he was third in sprint in his second race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he was also used in the World Cup for the first time. In Antholz he was 46th in the sprint. Shortly afterwards he was used again in the European Cup and then at the European Championships in Novosibirsk , where he achieved good results but remained without medals. After he finished second again in the sprint and third in the pursuit in the European Cup in Windischgarsten , he moved up again to the World Cup team. In Kontiolahti he won his first World Cup points as 23rd in the sprint and 17th in the pursuit. At the end of the season at Holmenkollen in Oslo , he achieved his first top 10 placement with a tenth place in the sprint. In the 2006/07 season he was often used in a strong Russian World Cup team. However, he was rarely able to place in the points. His third place in the sprint at the World Cup finals in Khanty-Mansiysk was all the more surprising . On the fifth World Cup weekend of the 2011/2012 season Andrei Makowejew celebrated his first World Cup victory. After shooting faultlessly, he finished first in the individual race in Nove Mesto.
