Andrei Ippolitowitsch Wilkizki ( Russian Андрей Ипполитович Вилькицкий ; born June 1 . Jul / 13. June  1858 greg. Near Minsk ; † February 26 jul. / 11. March  1913 greg. In Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian hydrographer and surveyor .

By 1880 Wilkizki graduated from the St. Petersburg Naval Academy .

In 1887 he carried out gravitation studies on Novaya Zemlya . With interruptions he supervised hydrographic studies in the Pechora and Yenisei estuary from 1894 to 1901 .

From 1907 until the end of his life, Wilkizki worked in administration. He dedicated his life to the safety of the sea . For example, he established calculation methods for discharge charts , worked on the publication of modern nautical charts , the construction of lighthouses and the creation of navigation marks . Wilkizki's studies had a major impact on the Russian Navy .

The three Wilkizki Islands and the Wilkizki archipelago within the Nordenskiöld archipelago were named after Wilkizki .

Andrei Wilkizki was the father of the naval officer and hydrograph Boris Wilkizki .
