Andrew Norman Meldrum

Andrew Norman Meldrum (born March 19, 1876 in Alloa , † March 12, 1934 in Edinburgh ) was a Scottish chemist. The Meldrum acid that he discovered is named after him .

Meldrum attended college in Aberdeen and London, and the University of Aberdeen , where he in 1904 Francis Japp with the chemistry historical work Avogadro and Dalton: the standing in Chemistry of Their Hypotheses doctorate was. He initially worked as an academic teacher at the universities of Aberdeen, Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester. He went to India in 1912, where he held various university teaching positions until his retirement in 1931.

His areas of work included the chemistry of terpenes and related aromatic compounds and the history of chemistry.
