Andrew Young (born February 21, 1992 in Huntly ) is a British cross-country skier .

Career

Young ran his first World Cup race in December 2008 in Davos , which he finished classically with 77th place over 15 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 he reached 98th place in the sprint and 14th place in the relay. He finished 74th in the 15 km freestyle and 60th place in the sprint at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , he took 61st place in the sprint. His best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme was 45th place in the sprint. In December 2013 he achieved his first World Cup points with 29th place in the sprint in Davos. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he reached 42nd place in the sprint and 37th place over 15 km classic. In the 2014/15 season in Davos he achieved 20th place in the sprint, his best place in the World Cup to date. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , he came 40th in the sprint. After finishing ninth in the sprint at the beginning of the 2015/16 season at the World Cup in Davos, he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place in the sprint in Toblach . This was followed by four more places in the points and 17th place in the Sprint World Cup. In the following year he finished 46th in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 over 15 km classic and 22nd place in the sprint and 27th place at the World Cup final in Québec . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he ran 57th place in the 15 km freestyle, 45th place in the sprint and 12th place together with Andrew Musgrave in the team sprint.

In the 2018/19 season, Young finished 51st in the overall World Cup. He achieved third place in the pursuit at the World Cup final in Quebec, which he finished in 32nd place. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were 22nd place in the sprint and 13th place together with James Clugnet in the team sprint.
