Life

Andrzej Chyra graduated from the PWST State Drama School in Warsaw in 1987 and began studying theater directing at the same school, which he graduated in 1994. He made his film debut in 1992. At the beginning of the 1990s he played at the private theater Teatr Scena Prezentacje in Warsaw. His breakthrough came in 1999 with the film The Guilt of Krzysztof Krauze , in which he played the blackmailer Gerard. He was honored for this role at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and received the Polish Film Prize . After this success he was given major roles in the theater and has been a member of the Teatr Rozmaitości ensemble in Warsaw since 2001 . Thanks to the work of the directors Krzysztof Warlikowski and Grzegorz Jarzyna, this stage is one of the most innovative stages in Poland. In addition to his stage successes, other roles in film followed.

In 2005 he was cast by Volker Schlöndorff as Lech Wałęsa in the film adaptation of the life of Anna Walentynowicz ( Strajk - Die Heldin von Danzig ) , which was played by Katharina Thalbach , whose role name in the film, however, is "Agnieszka". The film has been in theaters in Poland since February and in Germany since March 2007.
