Andrzej Gąsienica (born November 4, 1993 ) is a former Polish Nordic combined skier and ski jumper .

Career

Gąsienica, who started for the sports club TS Wisła Zakopane , made his debut in Wisła in 2009 in the Nordic Combined Continental Cup . However, he was only able to get his first points in Eisenerz in February 2013 with 29th place. A few weeks later he achieved his best results in the two Continental Cup competitions in Høydalsmo with tenth and eighth place.

Gąsienica took part in four Nordic Junior World Ski Championships between 2010 and 2013 , but was only able to achieve team placements among the top ten. In the individual, his best result was eleventh place in the Gundersen competition on the normal hill in Otepää 2011.

He achieved his greatest national success in 2012 when he won the Polish championship title in the 5 × 1.5 km team sprint with Tomasz Pochwała . On March 15, 2013 Gąsienica made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup , but could never reach the points. In April 2014 he decided to concentrate on special jumping and ended his career as a Nordic combined athlete. As a ski jumper, however, he was only able to score points in the third-class FIS Cup.

As a representative of TS Wisła Zakopane , he also won four medals at Polish championships in team competitions in ski jumping .

After retiring from his career, he tried his hand at being a bodybuilder .
