Andrzej Krzeptowski (born July 29, 1903 in Zakopane , † February 26, 1945 in Krakow ) was a Polish skier.

Career

Krzeptowski achieved his first successes in 1922 when he was both Polish champion in Nordic combined and cross-country skiing over 18 km and also narrowly missed the championship title in ski jumping as second behind Aleksander Rozmus . A year later he won the Polish championship title not only in ski jumping and Nordic combined, but also in the alpine discipline of slalom.

At the 1924 Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc , Krzeptowski started in ski jumping, Nordic combined and cross-country skiing. In ski jumping from the normal hill, he reached 21st place with jumps on 33 and 32 meters. In the Nordic Combined, he finished 19th in the individual. He finished the competition in cross-country skiing over 18 km in 28th place.

Just shortly after the Olympic Winter Games, Krzeptowski won the Polish championship in cross-country skiing over 18 km for the second time. In 1926 he again won the championship title in ski jumping as well as in Nordic combined. In 1927 he won the bronze medal in the same disciplines.

At the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , in which his cousin Andrzej Krzeptowski took part in cross-country skiing, he started exclusively in ski jumping and achieved 27th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1929 in his home town of Zakopane , he reached 27th place in ski jumping from the normal hill. In the same year he won the Polish championship title in the cross-country skiing relay over 4 × 10 km and the runner-up title in the downhill.

After the career

During the German occupation of Poland in World War II , he worked on the Goral Committee , which worked with the occupiers and was under the direction of his cousin Wacław Krzeptowski . He died as a prisoner of the NKVD in a Krakow hospital; self-consumption of poison was given as the cause of death.
