Andrzej Wyka (German Andreas Wyka ; born October 23, 1876 in Wilcza Wola near Kolbuszowa , Galicia , Austria-Hungary ; † May 28, 1948 , Kraków , Poland ) was a Polish teacher and high school director in Austria-Hungary and Poland .

Life

Andrzej Wyka had been a teacher at the Polish Gymnasium in Tarnopol in Galicia since 1905 at the latest . In 1907 he moved to the KK Ober-Gymnasium in Sanok , where he taught history, geography and writing. In 1911 he was appointed professor there. In 1915 and 1916 Wyka was a soldier in the Austro-Hungarian Army in World War I. He then returned to Sanok, where he has also taught Polish since then.

In 1920 Andrzej Wyka became the first Polish director at the grammar school in Wejherowo (Neustadt), which had come from West Prussia to the new Polish state. From 1923 he worked at the 10th State Gymnasium in Lwów (as a director?). In 1926 he became director of the private mixed grammar school in his home town of Kolbuszowa . In 1937 he retired.

Andrzej Wyka was a member of several teacher and school societies in Sanok. He received the Jubilee Commemorative Medal 1898 for civil servants and the Jubilee Cross 1908 for civil servants of the KK monarchy.
