Andrew Stuart "Andy" Dawson (born October 20, 1978 in Northallerton ) is a former English football player on the position of defender and current coach. His brothers Michael Dawson and Kevin Dawson also play professional football.

Career

Dawson started his career at Nottingham Forest , but was not used there, whereupon he was loaned out to Scunthorpe United . However, he did not return to Nottingham Forest, but signed a four-year contract with Scunthorpe United. On May 16, 2003 Dawson, whose contract with Scunthorpe United was not renewed, moved to Hull City on a free transfer. Dawson is known for his dangerous long-range shots, through which he has already scored several goals. At the end of the 2006/07 season, Dawson was named Hull City's Player of the Year . Together with his teammates Ian Ashbee , Boaz Myhill and Ryan France , he formed a band that plays songs for their club. After promotion to the Premier League , the top English division, in the 2007/08 season Dawson celebrated his Premier League debut on August 16, 2008 in a 2-1 home win against Fulham FC .
