Andy Scharmin (born November 29, 1967 , † June 7, 1989 at Zanderij ) was a Dutch football player for FC Twente from Enschede . His father was German , his mother of Surinamese origin.

Scharmin grew up in the border community of Haaksbergen , where he played football for VV Haaksbergen as a teenager. Since the 1987/88 season he played as a midfielder and later as a defender in the first team of FC Twente; he made his debut in the Eredivisie on October 4, 1987 in a 3-3 draw at Feyenoord . He was the team captain of the Dutch U-21 national team , the Jong Oranje . In the two seasons at FC Twente he was used 52 times in the honor division.

After the end of the 1989 season, Scharmin was appointed to the Kleurrijk Elftal , a selection of players with Surinamese descent. This “colorful team” was supposed to play a friendship tournament in Paramaribo in June , which was supposed to support the development of football in the country that was formerly part of the Netherlands. The plane with which the crew was supposed to land on June 7, 1989 at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport crashed about two kilometers from the runway on the approach. Scharmin and 14 other members of the Kleurrijk Elftal , as well as Scharmin's mother and aunt, were among the 176 fatalities in the aircraft accident.
