Andy Timmons

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andy Timmons (born July 26, 1963 in Evansville , Indiana , United States ) is an American rock or fusion guitarist and studio musician.

Andy Timmons released a considerable number of albums and worked for his own projects or as a studio musician with numerous well-known American musicians. He became better known through the release of the first album of the American hard rock band Danger Danger , with which he recorded two studio albums.

At the age of thirteen, Timmons became interested in playing guitar, which is why he formed his first band, Taylor Bay . He later started reading books about studio guitarists like Steve Lukather and Larry Carlton . Following the studio scene, he studied classical concert guitar for two years , but later completed a music degree in jazz at the University of Miami .

Andy Timmons is known for his particularly virtuoso lead guitar playing and his harmoniously well-composed instrumental titles .

The guitar company Ibanez , for which Timmons acts as an endorser , developed a special model ("Signature Guitar") adapted to his needs: The Ibanez AT-100 SB was built in 1999 in a limited edition of 175 pieces. After a short break as an endorser, Ibanez announced at the end of 2008 that they would be working again with Timmons. The Ibanez AT-100 CL has been manufactured in unlimited quantities since 2009. At the American music fair NAMM in January 2013, a cheaper sister model of the AT-100 made in Indonesia, the Ibanez AT-10P, was presented. Encouraged by the positive response to a rig tour video, in which a live white AT model with a rosewood fingerboard was presented, another signature model followed in 2014, the AT10RP-CLW. Timmons prefers to play Lone Star amplifiers from the US manufacturer Mesa / Boogie , EXL110 guitar strings from the D'Addario brand and Tortex Jazz III picks from Dunlop .
