Danger Danger are an American AOR - and glam metal - band , the 1987 New York District Queens was founded. Although their debut album of the same name in the USA was quite a commercial success, they soon disappeared from the limelight again due to copyright disputes and line-up changes. Nevertheless, the group is still active.
history
Danger Danger was founded in 1987 by bassist Bruno Ravel and drummer Steve West. Mike Pont was the singer for a while. After keyboardist Kasey Smith came on board, an attempt was made to record a demo tape, but this failed. Shortly thereafter, Ted Poley was recruited as a singer, who was the drummer for Prophet at the time. This time the demo recordings were made and a record deal with Epic Records was signed.
In 1989 Tony Ray (of Saraya ) was a brief guitarist, but returned to his previous band. Andy Timmons replaced him and the debut album was released at the end of the year. The songs "Naughty Naughty" and "Bang Bang" were successfully released as singles, and the band played in supporting acts for the American bands KISS , Alice Cooper , Extreme and Warrant , among others .
Then the group began recording the follow-up album Screw It! In the Netherlands . which was published in 1991. During the following tour (again together with KISS) Kasey Smith left the band because he did not like the changed, more guitar-heavy style.
In 1993 the work on the next album Cockroach was finished. Surprisingly, singer Ted Poley was sacked at this point. Due to the subsequent legal disputes, the album could not be released. In the meantime, Ravel and West recruited Paul Laine as a new singer and he sang the vocal tracks on the CD again. Shortly before the planned release, Epic and Danger Danger split up. Frustrated, Timmons then left the band to start a solo career.
Ravel and West founded their own label, Low Dice Records, and together with Laine they released the album Dawn in 1995 , which was significantly darker and quieter than their previous music. Supported by bassist Scott Brown, they went on tour through the USA again.
With the album Four the Hard Way , released in 1998, the group returned to their original style. Former members Timmons and Smith could be heard here as guest musicians. In 2000, The Return of the Great Gildersleeves was released.
After negotiations with Epic, a probably unique double CD was released in 2001 with Cockroach . It contained two versions of the same album, one with the vocals of Paul Laine and one with Ted Poley. The reactions to it have been positive. In 2003, various rare or previously unreleased songs were presented under the title Rare Cuts .
In 2004 Paul Laine was replaced by old singer Ted Poley.
In 2005 Live and Nude was released , which was recorded in 2003 and was sung by Paul Laine.
In 2009 the album "Revolve" appears, which was recorded again with the original line-up.
