Andy van der Meyde (born September 30, 1979 in Arnhem ) is a former Dutch football player . Van der Meyde usually played in attacking midfield . Although it was considered to be two-footed, it was mostly used on the right wing.

Career

In 1997 he made his debut in the first division for Ajax Amsterdam . There he played - with the exception of the 1999/2000 season - until 2003. In the 1999/2000 season he was on loan from Twente Enschede and was involved in 32 of the 34 league games, scoring two goals. He then moved to Inter Milan . There he could not prevail and completed only 32 games in Serie A (one goal) in two years . In order to preserve his chances of participating in the World Cup with the Netherlands , the winger wanted to change clubs. At the end of August 2005 he moved to the English Premier League and signed a four-year contract with Everton . There, however, he was repeatedly thrown back from injuries and only played 20 games in the Premier League, plus two games in the FA Cup . On June 12, 2009 it was announced that his contract with Everton, which expired in 2009, will not be renewed. In March 2010 he signed a contract with PSV Eindhoven until the end of the season. On December 8, 2011, he signed a contract with the top-class team Woonwagen Kamp Emmen . He ended his active career in Emmen in May 2012.

In the summer of 2004 van der Meyde took part with the Dutch national team at the European Championship in Portugal .
