Aneura is a genus of thallose, i.e. leafless liverworts .

features

The thalli of the mosses of this genus are fat, shiny, stiff, thick and easily fragile, 6 to 20 cell layers thick in the middle, 2 to 10 millimeters wide and not or only slightly and irregularly branched. In all epidermal cells there are small oil bodies, there can be 6 to 60 per cell. Most of the species are diocesan . Male plants are smaller than female. Asexual reproduction is absent. The species of this genus grow on more or less permanently moist subsoil such as damp or swampy soils, on rotten wood, humus and rocks.
