The aneuraceae are a family of order of Aneurales , a group of liverworts with just the constructed thallus . The family comprises 4 genera with around 195 species.

features

The thalli are multilayered, without a clearly demarcated midrib and are few and irregularly branched or regularly pinnate to three. Oil bodies are usually present in all or at least some of the thallus cells, and are seldom absent. There are either 1 to 3 large or numerous small oil bodies per cell. The gametangia are formed on short, narrow side branches. The kalyptra is large, club-shaped, fleshy, multilayered, and often papillae. A pseudoperianth is missing. The seta is long. The sporangium is egg-shaped to cylindrical and has a two-cell wall. Elaters and Elater carriers are available. Spores are single-celled and 9 to 26 µm in size. The plants are diocesan or monocy .

The family comprises four genera worldwide, three of which occur in Europe.
