Angela Brower (born July 25, 1983 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is an American opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ). From autumn 2010 to summer 2016 she was a member of the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.

Life

Angela Brower studied singing at Arizona State University and Indiana University . In 2008 she took part in the Young American Artists Program at Glimmerglass Opera. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season she came to the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera, where she belonged to the Junge Ensemble until 2010 and could be seen as Dorabella in Così fan tutte . From the 2010/11 to 2015/16 season she belonged to the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera, where she performed as Rosina in the Barbier of Seville , as Charlotte in Werther by Jules Massenet , as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel , as Adalgisa in Norma , as Nicklausse in Hoffmann's tales , as Cherubino in the Marriage of Figaro and as Annio and Sesto in La clemenza di Tito . In 2017 and 2018 she also portrayed Octavian in the Rosenkavalier at this house .

In 2013, Brower appeared as Nicklausse in Hoffmann's Tales at the San Francisco Opera and at the Klagenfurt City Theater as Octavian in Rosenkavalier . In autumn 2015 she made her debut at the Vienna State Opera in the role of Rosina in the Barber of Seville . At the 2016 Salzburg Festival she sang Dorabella in Così fan tutte . In August 2018 she took part in the Colombian premiere of Rosenkavalier in Bogotá as Octavian. In February 2020 she premiered at the Klagenfurt City Theater in the title role of Massenet's Cendrillon .

In the concert hall, Brower could be heard with the Seven Early Songs by Alban Berg with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck as well as Poème de l'amour et de la mer by Ernest Chausson and Shéhérazade by Maurice Ravel with the NDR Symphony Orchestra .
