Angela Grauerholz

Angela Grauerholz (* 1952 in Hamburg ) is a German- Canadian photographer and installation artist .

life and work

Angela Grauerholz studied graphic design at the Alsterdamm Art School in Hamburg from 1972 to 1976 , and from 1974 to 1976 literature and linguistics at the University of Hamburg . In 1976 she emigrated to Montreal , Canada, where she obtained a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University in 1980 .

In 1980 she was one of the founders of the Artexte Information Center and worked in the archive until 1986. In 1988, Grauerholz was appointed to a chair at the École de design de l'UQAM , where she was director of the design faculty from 2008 to 2012.

At the beginning of her career, Grauerholz photographed black and white , in the 1990s she also experimented with color photography . Angela Grauerholz's photographs are characterized by “their own timelessness”.
