Angelika Knipping
Angelika Knipping (born January 7, 1961 in Hagen ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant.
The 1.76 m tall and 67 kg heavy athlete competed for SV Nikar Heidelberg and for the Alabama Crimson Tide .
In 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983 and 1984 she won the German championship over 100 m breaststroke. In 1979 she was also German champion over 200 m breaststroke.
In addition, she had three international appearances.
- At the Universiade 1981 in Bucharest she won the gold medal over 100 m breaststroke.
- At the 1982 World Championships in Guayaquil , she came in 7th as a member of the 4 × 100 m layered relay (team: Marion Aizpors , Angelika Knipping, Karin Seick and Susanne Schuster ).
- At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , she finished fourth in the B final over 100 m breaststroke in 1: 12.04 minutes.
Angelika Knipping studied at the University of Heidelberg . The subject of her master's thesis, submitted in 1987, was: “Fear of success and failure in German competitive swimming”.
Today she works for the company Striebel & John.
