Angelo Novi

Angelo Novi (born June 9, 1930 in Lanzo d'Intelvi ; † May 6, 1997 ibid) was an Italian photographer .

Life

Novi studied painting under Domenico Cantatore at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and spent a year at the Faculty of Architecture . In 1952 he decided to work as a photographer and initially found a job at the Publifoto agency (which later became part of Olimpia ), for which he a. a. toured Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Iran and India. He took pictures of the popular uprising in Hungary in 1956 . After moving to Rome in 1960 he continued to document photo reports; a short time later he became a film set photographer , now for Dufoto . He worked for Pier Paolo Pasolini and Sergio Leone , for whom he also took on small roles in front of the camera; however, his photographs for Bernardo Bertolucci became particularly well known . Novi preferred black and white images.
