Angry Boys is an Australian comedy series in the mockumentary style by Chris Lilley who also acts as an actor in different roles. The series explores the lives of young adolescents in the 21st century and shows their influences, dreams and ambitions. Lilley takes on several roles:

  • Daniel and Nathan Sims, two South Australian twins,
  • S.mouse, an American rapper,
  • Jen, a manipulative Japanese mother,
  • Blake Oakfield, a surfing champion,
  • Ruth Sims, a youth security guard and grandmother of Daniel and Nathan

The series is a co-production by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the US cable broadcaster Home Box Office . The British broadcaster BBC Three also bought the series before completion. The film was shot in Melbourne , Los Angeles and Tokyo . The premiere took place on May 11, 2011 at 9:00 p.m. on the Australian broadcaster ABC1 . After a season with twelve episodes, the series was discontinued.

The first broadcast took place on May 11, 2011 on the Australian broadcaster ABC1 and reached a rate of 1.368 million viewers. The second episode reached almost the same rate with 1.346 million viewers. In the course of the first season, however, the ratings fell steadily, so that the tenth episode with 0.453 million viewers had the lowest value in the series.

The German-language first broadcast was from June 26 to September 11, 2013 on the pay-TV channel Sky Atlantic HD .
