Anil K. Jain

Anil Kumar Jain (born January 21, 1946 in India ) is an Indian-American computer scientist .

Jain studied at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur with a bachelor's degree in 1969 and from Ohio State University with a master's degree in 1970 and a doctorate in 1973. In 1972 he became an assistant professor at Wayne State University and an assistant professor in 1974, and an associate professor in 1977 and 1982 professor at Michigan State University , where he became a University Distinguished Professor in 1992 and was the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from 1995 to 1999.

He deals with pattern recognition, computer vision and biometrics (including facial recognition , fingerprints with several patents).

In 2007 he received the W. Wallace McDowell Award . He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science , the IEEE, and the Association for Computing Machinery . In 2016 he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering .

From 1991 to 1994 he was editor of the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
