Cape of Our Hero is a song by the Danish metal band Volbeat from 2013. It was released as the first single from their fifth studio album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies .

The song was written in 2012. The lyrics are by singer and guitarist Michael Schøn Poulsen . The music was written by Michael Schøn Poulsen and the rest of the band. Thematically, the song deals with the growing up of a boy. Michael Schøn Poulsen explained in an interview that many boys read comics about superheroes and see their fathers as a hero. One day the protagonist's father dies and the boy stops believing in superheroes. He is caught by an angel , given a cloak and flies to heaven to search for his father.
The single was on March 15, 2013 Vertigo Records as MP3 - Download released. A music video was shot for the song . Directed by Jakob Printzlau.
