Anita Baierl (born June 18, 1988 in Kremsmünster ) is a former Austrian middle-distance and long-distance runner . Between 2010 and 2014 she was eleven times national champion in cross country , over 1500, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 m as well as in 10 km road run. In 2016 she became the national marathon champion.

Career

Anita Baierl started for TuS Kremsmünster, she was trained by Karlheinz Meidinger until 2009 and then by her father Johannes Baierl until 2016 . Her mother Helga is also an active runner.
Anita Baierl achieved her first successes as a junior, she made it into the top 10 three times at international mountain running championships.

In the general class she won her first national title in 2010, she became indoor state champion over 3000 m and state champion over 10 km. In the following years 2011 and 2012, she became national champion in cross-country running and over 5000 m. Together with Andreas Vojta , she won the Viennese “Sie + Er-Lauf” in 2012 in the elite class. In her most successful year 2013, she not only won the state championships over 1500 m, 5000 m and 10 km, but was also a participant in the European team championship over 5000 m in Kaunas , where she came fifth.

In 2014, in contrast to previous years, she no longer competed in runs under 5000 m and instead increased her commitment to long-distance runs. She competed for the first time in October at the state championships in the half marathon as part of the Salzburger Jedermannlauf and immediately became Vice State Champion behind Jennifer Wenth . In her second half marathon, the 2015 Berlin Half Marathon , she finished fourth with a personal best of 1: 13.23 h, which was also third on the ÖLV best list.

In March 2016 she won the title of national champion at her first marathon start in Salzburg. She works part-time as an office clerk in Wels .

In December 2019, Anita Baierl announced her retirement from running at the end of the year.
