Jennifer Wenth (born July 24, 1991 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian middle and long distance runner . She is multiple Austrian champion and Olympian (2016).

Career

In July 2011 she started at the U23 European Athletics Championships in Paris over 1500 m and was eliminated in the preliminary run.

In May 2013 she won the Steffl Tower Run in Vienna. It took 1: 53.70 min for the 343 steps and 67 meters in altitude in the narrow south tower of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna.

In 2014 she finished eleventh in the 5000 meter run at the European Athletics Championships in Zurich and took 18th place at the European Cross Country Championships in Samokow .

In February 2015, Wenth managed 15: 43.88 min over the 5000 m at the athletics indoor meeting "XL-Galan" in Stockholm , the second fastest time for a European woman in the current season and at the same time the first ÖLV indoor record holder in the 5000 meter run . Two days later in Linz she became national champion 3000 m in 9: 17.16 minutes.

In 2015 she was ninth over 3000 m at the European Indoor Championships in Prague and came 15th at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing over 5000 m. At the women's run in Vienna's Prater in May she came third in the 5-kilometer competition after 15: 45.5 minutes.

She was five times Austrian champion over 1500 m, twice in cross-country and once over 800 m , over 5000 m, over 10,000 m as well as in the half marathon . In the hall she won the national title five times over 1500 m, three times over 3000 m and once over 800 m.

At the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August 2016, Jennifer Wenth qualified for the final in the women's 5000-meter run and finished in 16th place.

On February 26, 2018, the then 26-year-old declared her active career ended after twelve years due to persistent health problems on social media.

Jennifer Wenth visited the BORG Wiener Neustadt . She was in a relationship with the athlete Christoph Sander (* 1988).
