Anita Jehli

Anita Jehli (born April 25, 1966 in Glarus ) is a Swiss cellist .

Live and act

Anita Jehli completed her training in violoncello at the Zurich University of Music with Markus Stocker and Claude Starck and graduated with a concert diploma with distinction.

This was followed by studies at the Zurich University of the Arts in the subjects of baroque cello with Roel Dieltiens and conducting with Marc Kissóczy (graduation from DAS focus on orchestral conducting with distinction), the diploma training as music school director of the Association of Music Schools Switzerland, the degree MAS in Arts' Management at the University of Basel and CAS in Church Music Practice at the Zurich University of the Arts.

Today Jehli is the principal cellist of the Camerata Switzerland and, since 1991, a founding member of the Ensemble Pyramide , which specializes in the performance of unknown or forgotten chamber music literature from the baroque to the modern. With this ensemble she received the cultural award “Work Year for Interpretation” from the city of Zurich.

Another interest is the continuo playing, which Jehli performs on the modern as well as baroque instrument in various formations in Switzerland and Europe. CD recordings with Anita Jehli have been released by Naxos, Ars Musici, Divox, Brilliantclassics, Intégral Productions and Toccata classics.

Since 2005 she has been the conductor of the Old Town Orchestra of the parish of Zurich and since 2013 she has been the musical director of OrchestinaChur.

Jehli is involved as the director of various music courses for children, young people and adults in the Villa Jolimont, Erlach, works as the school director at the music school Domat / Ems Felsberg, board member of the Camerata Switzerland and member of the artistic direction of the Domleschger summer concerts.

She is the winner of the Kiwanis Music Prize, the Chamber Music Prize of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives and the Koeckert Prize for Violoncello from the Zurich University of Music.
