Anja Barwig (born January 29, 1984 ) is a former German vaulting artist .

Anja Barwig began vaulting at the age of six in her home town of Starnberg . At the age of ten she was accepted into the club's first team and started with it at two German championships. In 1999 Barwig moved to the first team of the Ingelsberg vaulting club , with whom she achieved numerous successes at national and international championships, including two golds (2000, 2003) and one silver (2001) at the German championships and the world championship title in 2000.

She has been the undefeated Upper Bavarian champion in individual vaulting since 2002, having won the runner-up title in 2001. From 2003 to 2008 she won the Bavarian Championships in singles, in 2009 she was runner-up. She achieved her first professional success at the German Championship in 2004, where she took 3rd place. A year later she won the championship and in 2006 and 2008 she was second. At the European Championship in 2005 she was able to win the title. In 2008 she won the bronze medal at the World Championships, after finishing 5th in 2004 and 2006 . At the European Championships in 2009 she won silver.

Anja Barwig lives in Herrsching and has two sisters. She was trained by Alexander Hartl . On November 6, 2010, she gave birth to her first child and ended her active career.

On 12 June 2012 she was in Berlin by the German Interior Minister Friedrich with the Silver Laurel Leaf Award for their sporting achievements.
