Anja Odenthal

Anja Odenthal (born March 25, 1971 in Cologne ) is a German entertainer and singer .

Life

Anja Odenthal grew up in Cologne with a brother. The father often played the piano and liked to bring artists home from the Cologne Carnival, where they rehearsed and made music. When Odenthal was nine years old, she sang at the children's carnival for the first time. At the age of eleven, Odenthal had her first television appearance with the Monday painters . She has been performing semi-professionally at the Cologne Carnival since she was twelve.

At the age of 15 Odenthal passed the entrance exam for classical singing at the Rheinische Musikschule in Cologne and received singing lessons from Ilse Haarhaus, a concert singer. She also sang in a jazz combo and received ballet and jazz dance lessons. Odenthal plays the piano and guitar.

After graduating from the Hölderlin-Gymnasium in Cologne, Odenthal began studying German at the University of Cologne in 1990 . In 1993 Odenthal applied to the Närrische Hitparade , where she made her first appearance as a singer on television. In 1995 the self-written show Musicals op Kölsch was published in cooperation with the “Akademie för uns kölsche Sproch” and the Cologne youth choir Sankt Stephan .

After she had already produced four CDs in-house, the music publisher Günter Ilgner heard Odenthal's voice on a recording. After auditioning in the studio, the record Time for Love was released in 1998 . The CD was produced by Hans Schulz, who wrote for Andy Borg , Die Fischer von San Juan , and Klaus Löhmer, among others . Text author was Erich Offierowski, who among other things wrote texts for Claudia Jung . Christian Bruhn contributed two tracks to the album. Another singing competition, the last German Schlager Festival and television appearances followed, as well as trips through Germany and Austria. In 1999 she received the Golden Tuning Fork as Young Talent of the Year .

From 2002 to 2005 Odenthal presented "Advents Tön im Gürzenich " together with other Cologne artists , and from 2005 to 2008 the music show Musical Wishes .

Odenthal has been married since 2007 and gave birth to a daughter in October 2009.
