Anja Schröder (born April 10, 1967 in Hagen ) is a German cellist and a member of the Duisburg Philharmonic .

Live and act

Anja Schröder studied in Munich and then in Freiburg with Christoph Henkel, where she passed her concert exam in 1993. In 1992 she was a prizewinner at the German University Competition in the Duo Cello / Piano category. With a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service , she studied with Lynn Harrell at the University of Southern California . Subsequently, she received a scholarship from Villa Musica , the Baden-Württemberg State Collection and a member of the Freiburg Ensemble Aventure .

Anja Schröder has been a member of the Duisburg Philharmonic since 1994, where she campaigned for equal rights for women in the orchestra. Her musical interests include chamber music, from baroque works in historical performance practice to world premieres of contemporary works. She and the jazz singer Anja Lerch have been working together for many years with joint performances and the creation of crossover programs.

Schröder has given concerts around the world in a wide variety of formations and has participated in numerous radio and CD productions. In the field of new music she has worked with numerous composers such as Kaija Saariaho , Sofia Gubaidulina , Gerhard Stäbler , Kunsu Shim , Nicolaus A. Huber , Michael Denhoff , Stefan Heucke , Bernd Preinfalk and Peter Androsch . Some solo pieces are dedicated to Anja Schröder and were premiered by her .

At the Landgang music festival , which was founded in 2013 by the composers Bernd Preinfalk and Peter Androsch and now takes place annually in Freistadt and the two churches of St. Peter near Freistadt , Anja Schröder has been an integral part of the concert program from the very beginning.
