Anja Wyden Guelpa (born February 22, 1973 ) is a Swiss political scientist . From 2009 to 2018 she was the first woman State Chancellor of the Canton of Geneva .

Life

Anja Wyden attended the German-speaking primary school in Brig and then the French-speaking college in Sion . After graduating from high school , she studied political science at the Universities of Geneva and Tübingen and graduated in 1997 with a licentiate . Then she did a Masters in Public Management . As a project manager, she first worked at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and then as a consultant at IBM Business Consulting .

As a member of the Social Democratic Party (SP), Anja Wyden Guelpa became involved in the board of the SP Women Switzerland and on the board of the SP of the city of Geneva from 1998 . Professionally, she worked in the social department of the Canton of Geneva, first as deputy director, then as director.

On November 24, 2009, Anja Wyden Guelpa was elected State Chancellor by the government of the Canton of Geneva. On December 7th, at the age of 36, she was the first woman to take on this role. It was confirmed in 2013. In January 2018 she announced that she was not aiming for a third term and that she would be entrepreneurial. On June 1, 2018, she was replaced as State Chancellor.

Their entrepreneurial focus took shape in June 2018 with the establishment of civicLab , a “think tank” and “do tank”. She has been a member of various management and advisory bodies since 2018. For example, she was elected as a member of the Innosuisse Innovation Council. She is also President of the Federal Coordination Commission for Family Issues (EKFF).

Anja Wyden Guelpa is married and has two children.
