Anna Bernard

Anna Bernard (born July 15, 1865 in Breslau ; † August 27, 1938 in Bad Kudowa , Glatz district , Silesia ) was a German native writer .

Life

Anna Bernard, née Scheer, spent her childhood in Neisse . Her father was a wood sculptor. After graduating from elementary school, she learned the craft of tailoring. After a few years in different employment relationships, she started her own business as a master tailor in Neisse. During this time she was already publishing smaller works in newspapers and magazines under her maiden name.

In 1904 Anna Scheer married the master tailor Robert Bernard from Bad Kudowa. The couple initially lived in Neisse and moved to Bad Kudowa in 1908. Here Anna Bernard mainly devoted herself to writing and wrote her most important works. She took the material for most of her works from the historical events of her adopted home, the County of Glatz . She died on August 27, 1938 in Bad Kudowa. Her body was buried in the cemetery of the Bartholomäus parish church in Tscherbeney , where the tomb is still preserved.
