Anna Heringer

Anna Heringer (born October 13, 1977 in Rosenheim ) is a German architect who works in the field of sustainable building .

Life

Born in Rosenheim, Anna Heringer grew up in Laufen, Upper Bavaria, near Salzburg . At the age of nineteen she went abroad to Bangladesh; there her interest in the country was sparked when she worked for a non-governmental organization . In 2004 Heringer graduated from the University of Art in Linz with a degree in architecture . As a final thesis, she designed the new building for the METI Handmade School in Rudrapur, Bangladesh . The design was realized a year later and earned the planner international architecture prizes, such as the Aga Khan Award for Architecture . The project was carried out with the help of local artisans and using traditional building materials such as bamboo and clay . A vocational school for budding electricians was also built next to it. After studying in Linz, he did a dissertation at the Technical University of Munich .

Heringer held visiting professorships in Stuttgart , Linz and Vienna .

She is one of 6 protagonists in the documentary The Future Is Better Than Her Reputation .
