Anna Hoffmann (director)
Anna Hoffmann ( Russian Анна Гоффман; born July 29, 1980 in the Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh-German film director and screenwriter .
Live and act
Anna Hoffmann, who came from a family of German origin , moved from the Kazakh SSR to the Federal Republic in 1990 - one year before the dissolution of the Soviet Union . From 2001 onwards she studied film and theater studies at the Free University of Berlin and from 2002 to 2008 she studied directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy, specializing in documentary film . During her studies she was assistant director to Frank Coraci in 2002 and to Volker Schlöndorff in 2006 .
Anna Hoffmann has received several awards for her film work, for example in 2007 with the Kazakh Film Prize and in 2008 with the Russian German Culture Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg for her documentary Which Direction Is Going Home , in which she questions the identity of Russian Germans, their history and Present. In 2009 she was honored with the German Short Film Award for Household Help.
In her three-part documentary Marry me, Germany! She accompanies three Ukrainian au pair girls in Germany. The film was broadcast on SWR TV in 2012 and on Phoenix TV in May 2014 .
The film drama Poka - means Tschüss in Russian is Anna Hoffmann's first feature film, which she directed and wrote the screenplay with Oliver Haller. It premiered in competition at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival in January 2014 .
