Anna Holmes

Anna Holmes (* 1969 in Heidelberg ) is an English actress and singer-songwriter who grew up in Germany .

biography

Anna Holmes received her acting training at the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg . She then lived in Hamburg, New York and Los Angeles and took lessons from internationally renowned acting teachers such as Uta Hagen and MK Lewis .

In Berlin , engagements followed as Janet in the Rocky Horror Picture Show (1995), as Sandy in Grease (1996-97), as Crissy in Hair (1998) and as Miss Goldschmitt in Potatsch und Perlmutter (2000, Theater am Kurfürstendamm ).

Later, Anna focused on more serious roles; She has appeared as Frau von Geschwitz in Lulu (2001, Festival della Cultura, Italy) and as Griselda in Top Girls (2002, Theater am Ufer , Berlin).

She began her film career in the 1990s in the film class of director Hark Bohm at the University of Hamburg . Since then she has been involved in numerous national and international cinema and television productions.

As a singer she sang for the movies Bibi Blocksberg (most successful German film of 2002) and Das fgende Klassenzimmer (2003). She works on numerous music projects and advises young artists on song interpretation and vocal training. In December 2018, Punchcard Records released the single “Turn off the Moon” from their music project St. Claire's.

Anna Holmes lives in Berlin and has two children (* 1996 and * 2005). Her father is the molecular biologist and biophysicist Kenneth Charles Holmes .
