Anna Jadowska

Anna Jadowska (born June 15, 1973 in Oleśnica ) is a Polish film director and screenwriter .

Life

Anna Jadowska studied Polish language and literature at the University of Wroclaw and directing at the Łódź Film School . She worked at the Polish Radiu Wrocław . In 1996 her literary work began with a publication in the Polish literary magazine Brulion .

In 2003, Jadowska's first feature film, Dotknij mnie (translated : Touch me! ), Is about people in Łódź who live under difficult social conditions. It ran at various film festivals, including the forum at the Berlinale 2004 . Dotknij mnie was created in collaboration with the Polish filmmaker Ewa Stankiewicz . Both were awarded the main prize in the independent cinema competition category at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival in 2003. Two years later, Jadowska again won a prize for best directorial debut at the Polish Film Festival with her drama Teraz ja ja . The film is about a woman who breaks out of her usual life and experiences new things on a trip while her boyfriend searches for her.

In 2009, in her fictional historical drama Crash over Gibraltar , Jadowska took up the controversial conspiracy theory that General Władysław Sikorski did not die in the plane crash near Gibraltar (1943) , but had been murdered beforehand because he had information about the Katyn massacre , which was published by the Anti-Hitler coalition could have endangered. This film was also released as a four-part TV version under the title Generał .
