Anna Katharina Bernreitner

Anna Katharina Bernreitner (born March 9, 1986 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian opera director and producer.

Life

Bernreitner grew up in Waidhofen an der Ybbs and attended high school there. From 2006 to 2010 she studied musical theater directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . She worked as an assistant director with Claus Guth , Barrie Kosky , Frank Hilbrich, Nadja Loschky, Jetske Mijnssen, Bernd Mottl and Reto Nickler.

In the summer of 2011, Bernreitner founded the artist group Oper rund um and began staging operas in various unusual locations.

Bernreitner also creates station theaters for opera houses and stages children's and youth theater productions.

Anna Katharina Bernreitner lives in Vienna, is married and has two children.

  • 2017: Lower Austrian Culture Prize - Recognition Prize in the category "performing arts"
  • 2019: Austrian Music Theater Award - Bernreitner's Die Entführung aus dem Serail receives the Offtheaterpreis.
