Bernd Mottl
Bernd Mottl (* 7. November 1965 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German theater - director .
Life
Bernd Mottl studied theater and music sciences at the Free University of Berlin and founded the FU's studio stage together with Marcel Pomplun.
From 1988 to 1994 he staged various literary excavations with students from the Berlin drama schools, which were also shown at European festivals such as Avignon, London and Cologne. He assisted the directors Harry Kupfer and John Dew u. a. at the Komische Oper Berlin and the Deutsche Oper Berlin .
Since 1994 Bernd Mottl has been working as a freelance director on various stages in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His repertoire expanded from drama and opera to musicals and operettas.
At first he realized some highly acclaimed musical premieres at the Neukölln Opera together with the author Peter Lund. Thereupon he staged u. a. repeatedly at the Cottbus State Theater , the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, the Hanover State Opera and the Cologne Opera . Further productions were Michael Cooney's Cash at the Maxim Gorki Theater (2002), Oliver Bukowskis Nothing more beautiful with Désirée Nick at the Renaissance-Theater Berlin (2002), Yasima Reza's The God of Carnage in Potsdam (2007), My Fair Lady at the State Opera Hanover ( 2009), the double evening La voix humaine / Duke Bluebeard's Castle with Nicola Beller-Carbone and Johnannes Martin Kränzle, Die Csárdásfürstin with Christoph Marti in the title role at the Cologne Opera (2010), Kiss me Kate at the Vienna Volksoper (2012), La Cage aux Folles in the bar every reason Berlin (2014) and Werther (2015) in Hanover. In October 2016 he staged the operetta Frau Luna by Paul Lincke with the Pfister siblings , Thomas Pigor , Benedikt Eichhorn , Gustav Peter Wöhler , Max Gertsch , Cora Frost and Annamateur in the tipi at the Chancellery . In September 2018 he performed an interpretation of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Wiesbaden State Theater .
