Matthias Thurow

Matthias James Thurow (born August 25, 1949 in Tübingen ) is a German musician ( guitar , bass , keyboards , synthesizer , also violin , sitar ) and composer who developed from rock to ambient music and also in the field of theater and music Film scores emerged.

Live and act

Thurow played in the late 1960s as a guitarist in the school band Royal Servants ; from her emerged the Krautrock band Eulenspygel , which was one of the first German rock bands to work with German lyrics. After the first two Eulenspygel albums 2 and Committee he got out, switched to bass and worked in Wolfgang Dauner's fusion band Et Cetera . He also worked for the Dave Pike Set and Attila Zoller .

Thurow worked for television while studying literature and political science at the University of Tübingen . He has written articles and scripts and composed film music. Together with Melchior Schedler , Wolfgang Dauner and Fred Braceful , the four-part television series Glotzmusik was created for ARD in 1974 . From 1976 Thurow began to work for the theater; He contributed more than 100 compositions to various stage plays. Between 1978 and 1982 Thurow directed the drama music in the Landestheater Esslingen . He was also on the road with his rock project Turo's Tutti and released the LP at halftime . Then he started working on computer acoustic music. In 1982 he presented the album Agent Orange as Turo ; the title song made it to several NDW anthologies.

Thurow continued to work for the theater, radio, television and film. In addition, the albums Cornucopia and Melancholia appeared on Ulrich Rützel's Erdenklang label . He moved to Italy in the late 1990s. In 2005 he released the album Ich bin - again completely self-recorded. He can also be heard on albums by Friedemann , Anita Sarawak and Peter Rübsam .
