Thomas Pigor

Thomas Pigor (born May 1956 in Alzey ) is a German cabaret artist , songwriter , author and composer . Since 1995 he has been the singer of Pigor & Eichhorn .

education

Thomas Pigor started school in the Catholic elementary school in Unsleben (Lower Franconia) in 1962 . From 1966 to 1975 he received violin lessons and was self-taught on the guitar. He passed his Abitur in 1975 at the New Language High School in Bad Neustadt an der Saale . He completed his studies at the University of Würzburg in 1982 as a graduate chemist without ever working in this field. From 1988 to 1991 he received singing lessons from L. Meichsner.

Music cabaret

Pigor has been performing as a music cabaret artist with various stage programs since the late 1970s. B. 1991 together with Irene Rindje in the Pigor and Rindje numbering program . His texts often refer to current events.

Since 1995 he has been working regularly with the pianist and cabaret artist Benedikt Eichhorn . The first program Pigor sings, Benedikt Eichhorn must accompany is continued on a regular basis, most recently as Pigor sings, Benedikt Eichhorn must accompany, volume 9 (2017).

Pigor was a member of the Berlin musical company College of Hearts from 1983 to 1992 . In the first four productions New York muss brennen (1983), King Kurt (1985), Casanova (1987) and Bloody Honey (1988) as well as in the red light fairy tale Der Puss in Boots (1992) he was also on stage himself, in the butcher musical Harry Stark ( 1989) he directed. In 2011 he wrote an adaptation of the libretto of the Offenbach operetta Orpheus in der Unterwelt for the Berlin State Opera .

He has also written several children's musicals: Cinderella (1990), Des Kaiser's New Dresses (1997) and Anton, the Mäusemusical (2004), Edgar, the horror of the postman (2015) the latter together with his sister Gertrud Pigor.

Pigor also writes lyrics and music for other artists, including a. for Tim Fischer , Max Raabe , Walter Moers , Queen Bee ( Ina Müller ), Désirée Nick , the Missfits and the Berlin Comedian Harmonists . Pigor's songs were also sung by Thomas Quasthoff and Jan Böhmermann .

Chanson of the month

Since November 2010, Thomas Pigor has been composing the chanson of the month for the SWR on topics of contemporary history, which was later broadcast by other ARD broadcasters and Deutschlandfunk . Pigor ended the series with the 100th chanson in December 2018. A book on this project was published in cooperation with the illustrator Burkhard Neie and with an accompanying mp3 CD with all the chansons of the month in December 2018 by con anima Verlag in Düsseldorf.
