Anna Lemmenmeier

Anna Lemmenmeier (* 1984 ) is a Swiss journalist and foreign correspondent for Swiss radio and television (SRF). She has lived in Nairobi with her family since 2017 and works as an Africa correspondent for Radio SRF and online for SRF News.

Life and education

Anna Lemmenmeier grew up in St. Gallen . Already in her youth she was fascinated by Africa , she dealt with it while traveling and later during her studies. After graduating from high school, she lived in Burkina Faso for a few months .

Anna Lemmenmeier studied international relations and international law in Geneva . She wrote her bachelor thesis on Thomas Sankara . She then studied history in Bern and Accra . For her master's thesis she researched in Ghana . The theme is Operation Feed Yourself , a government self-sufficiency program in Ghana in the 1970s.

Journalistic work

Anna Lemmenmeier has been working in various positions at Radio SRF since 2009. Initially, she was an editor and producer at Radio SRF 4 News and the morning program “This Morning”. Then she was a member of the business editorial team.

As a correspondent, she is responsible for all African countries south of the Sahara . She regularly travels to countries on the continent. On January 15, 2019, a terrorist attack on the luxury complex DusitD2 took place in the immediate vicinity of her home.
