Anna Maria Alberghetti (born May 15, 1936 in Pesaro , Italy) is an Italian actress and singer ( soprano ) who celebrated her greatest successes on Broadway and was awarded the Tony Award in 1962 for her achievements .

Life

Anna Maria Alberghetti was born in 1936 in Pesaro, Italy, the daughter of a cellist and opera singer and a pianist . Alberghetti made her first appearance as a singer on the island of Rhodes at the age of six . When she was thirteen she performed at Carnegie Hall in New York.

In 1951 Alberghetti got her first major film role in Frank Capra's wedding parade alongside Bing Crosby . She had previously played in the Italian production Il medium . This was followed by leading roles in Ten Thousand Bedrooms with Dean Martin , Cinderella with Jerry Lewis and in the Western Duel at Apache Wells . In addition to her film career, she has also appeared in several television series and shows, including an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show .

Alberghetti celebrated her greatest successes in musicals on Broadway in New York. In 1962 she received the Tony Award for Best Actress for her portrayal in Lili . She is still active as an actress and singer today.

Alberghetti was married to producer Claudio Guzmán since 1964 . The couple had two children together. The marriage was divorced in 1974.

Trivia

Anna Maria Alberghetti is mentioned in Ira Levin 's 1967 bestseller Rosemary's Baby , in which the main character Rosemary Woodhouse confuses a housemaid with Alberghetti because of her similar appearance.
