Anna Schönborn

Anna Frieda Auguste Schönborn (born October 30, 1880 in Mühlhausen in East Prussia ; † May 26, 1957 Detmold ) was a co-founder of the German Association of Female Academics (DAB), headmistress of the Uhland School (Berlin-Schöneberg) and teacher at the girls' high school in Detmold .

life and work

From 1923 to 1945 she was director of the Uhland School (Uhland Lyzeum) in Berlin. When the school was evacuated, the train remained in place. Some teachers at the Uhland Lyceum, such as Sibylle Dotti , Hildegard Sauerbier and Käthe Aettner , stayed with their headmistress in Detmold. Anna Schönborn became a teacher for Latin and French at the municipal girls' high school in Detmold. She was a member of the General German Teachers' Association (ADLV) and co-founder and board member of the DAB until 1933 . She headed the student welfare . From 1930 to 1933 she was chairman of the association for granting interest-free loans to female students. From 1929 to 1936 she was the German delegate of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) and chairwoman of the IFUW committee for international teacher exchanges. She held a mandate in the ICW . From 1950 she was chairman of the Detmold local branch of the DAB, which also included Käthe Aettner, Sibylle Dotti, Hedwig Eisenhardt and Hildegard Sauerbier. Through her commitment to women and girls' education, she shaped Hildegard Sauerbier and Käthe Aettner.
